Prem Ratan Dhan Payo - THE REVIEW

I have followed Salman Khan's career since I was a kid. His first film Maine Pyar Kiya released when I was Born. It is still one of my favourite films of all time. This movie was directed my Sooraj R. Barjatya the same guy that directed Hum Aapke hai Kaun and Vivah. It was only fair that if these two talented souls were going to work together. the film would HAVE to be a Blockbuster.

This had to be one of the BEST movies I have seen in the last 10 years without fail. I have been pretty unimpressed with Bollywood recently, but I must say that Salman Khan has kept Bollywood as it should be. With movies like Dabangg and Bhajrangi Bhaijaan. He is a very underrated actor and I love that.
We all know some very overrated actors in the Bollywood industry, I agree that they are talented but their movies have no real meaning to them any more.
This movie took me back to my childhood of watching a film that had the importance of Family and Love running through it. Those are the kinds of films I want to watch. The importance of life was seeping through this film and I felt so much happiness watching it.
Salman has completely out done himself with this movie. I loved seeing new Actors and Actresses instead of the overrated type we see. It made the film feel real and raw.
I would most definitely watch this again and ask you to give this movie a go too.
Sonam Kapoor shined like the star she is destined to be. She has finally shown her real talent in this movie. Good on her. I know people had their reservations about this duo, I sure did as I didn't think it would work. They casted the right person for sure. It worked so well.
Was lovely to see Neil Nitin Mukesh in this movie. Its about time these underrated actors were given roles to show their full potential. He played his character really well.

The Soundtrack

Himesh Reshammiya was behind this magical soundtrack. I have been playing this FULL soundtrack over again and again. Again, this was one of the reasons I felt so nostalgic whilst watching it. I love the songs "Jalte Diye" and "Aaj Unse Milna" the most but the whole soundtrack is decent.
The songs took me back to the evergreen days. Romantic songs at their best. Full of love, light and emotion. I have nothing but great words to say about this soundtrack.

The Clothing & Sets

Every few minutes I was nudging my Husband and whispering " we need to get married again, I want you to wear THAT, and I want to wear THAT. Oh my god look at THAT outfit!"
The outfits had that Mughal look, so rich and traditional. Gorgeous! I wish I could find some great photos of the sets online but I can't find anything decent enough to give the sets any justice. They defined BEAUTY!

Happy Diwali. Hope you enjoyed my review.

"Cleaner" Eating - Here's my story so far..

If you follow me on Social Media you would have seen the sudden increase in photos of and around food.
I have always wanted to attempt the Organic way of life but when you live with your family who cook and spend so much time and love on their cooking, its difficult to give it a go.  I've always tried and tested natural remedies and bought local Honey as oppose to the Supermarket stuff.
NOW.. I'm in a place where I have the say in what is going to be bought and cooked. I have read so much about the amounts of Chemicals in mass produced Fruit, Vegetables and Meat but it confuses the life out of me. "This is good, but this isn't!" Well.. what's good for you?
"What does organic mean in food?

It states that organic meat, poultry, eggs and dairy products come from animals that are given no antibiotics or growth hormones. Organic plant foods are produced without using most conventional pesticides, fertilizers made with synthetic ingredients or sewage sludge, bioengineering or ionizing radiation. " - Definition taken from Google
I grew up on Fruit and Veg from my Grandads garden as well as the local Market. As soon as the Supermarkets came along with their BOGOF offers.. the local Market became seriously unpopular.. "Well.. it goes off quicker!" .. Well, Yes! That's because it hasn't been infected with disgusting chemicals to prolong its life.
People will always have an opinion on this subject.. By no means am I right.. I just feel better for eating Organic.
I buy Organic Fruit & Veg from a local Farmers Market. Yes! it does go off quicker but wouldn't you prefer that to eating a bunch of Chemicals?
Dependant on where you shop, I find buying from a Farmers Market is around the same price as buying from a Supermarket.
I will continue to do this.. Mr UnLeeshd & I are currently going Vegetarian for the month of October :) We have consumed a lot of Fresh Organic Fruit & Veg. After this month, we will begin buying Organic Meat too.
What is your opinion on this subject?

DIY - Skin brightening treatment

I love making my own Masks and Scrubs from home. There's something so fulfilling about making your own Skincare treatments.
I've made something similar to this before but it works so well for me that I felt the need to share with you. I suffer from really dry skin and I've also mentioned before how my arms tan more than the rest of my body resulting in uneven skin tone. This scrub is great for evening skin tone and adding moisture to the skin. So far, I've only been using this on my arms.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup of Rice ( Rice is great for fading blemishes and brightening skin)
A pinch of turmeric ( Good for fading blemishes, reducing wrinkles and acne )
2 tbsp. FULL FAT Milk or Yoghurt (Moisturising & Nourishing)
A drop of Almond oil (Moisturising, Reducing dark circles & stretch marks, Sun protection)
(You may need to add more or less to get the correct consistency)

Instructions:
I've been using mine as a Scrub so I've been grinding Rice in the food processor leaving small bits to exfoliate the skin - If you want to make a mask..blitz the Rice for longer.
Add all Ingredients into a container. & mix well.
FYI - Applying this scrub can get super messy as the Rice gets everywhere!! I always apply this over a sink or in the Bath.
If you are using it to exfoliate, rub into the skin for a few minutes and leave on for 5 minutes then wash off ;-) I do this twice a week and love what it does for my dry skin.
ENJOY!

NEW Make-Up Organiser

When I moved to the U.S. I packed my make up into THREE old make up bags as well a large carrier bag. My old MUJI storage didn't fit into any of my suitcases so I left it at home.
My intention was to buy a much bigger and deeper set of drawers, however I came across this one..

I gave my Husband a headache when choosing my Make-up organiser..
IT'S A BIG DECISION!!
When seeing this one, I was still umming and arrring as I didn't think it would look as neat and tidy as a set of drawers.
Since my make-up was taking over the whole Bathroom unit, I decided to just buy it.. and GUESS WHAT? I actually like it.

It spins around and actually doesn't look as untidy as I originally thought it would. I paid just under $30 for this which works out at around £19. REALLY!!?
You can't go wrong for just under 20 quid. I fit all of my make-up on it and it still has space for MORE!! ;-)

Luckily, my bathroom unit came with some drawers so I've used one for all of my make-up palettes. I left quite a few back in the U.K. this is probably half of the palettes I own.. oopsie.

I purchased this from Bed, Bath & Beyond. I believe these are actually really easy to buy from Amazon too!

Fashion Icon of the Month - FARYAL MAKHDOOM

Firstly.. Can I just say that ever since I heard FARYAL's name.. I've always said it would be a lovely name for a Baby Girl. In some languages, Faryal means Angel. Its such a beautiful name.

OK.. Baby names aside ( and NO I'm most definitely not expecting lol
I recently found Faryal Makhdoom on Instagram and thought..
"Woah! This girl knows how to dress!" She posted a photo of a Valentino Bag and shoes and I literally went to Designer shoe HEAVEN! While I'm here in the States, my mission is to leave here with a nice Designer pair of shoes.. or a bag.. or both ;-)

No more words now. Just pictures of some of Faryal's best outfits.. I've left my best one till last.

Enough said.

The Importance of a Smear/Pap Test - Let's get to this!

I'll be completely honest with you in this post as I think this topic is so so important. Knowing how important it is, I still took a year to actually pluck up the courage and book it. I just hate visiting the nurse, probably because I had quite a few blood tests growing up! UGH!
My letter came through a month or so before turning 25. I'm almost 26, I had mine done just 2 months ago. I kid you not, the Doctors surgery sent me around 10 letters and I threw each and every single one away. How ignorant? How silly?
I guess I was just scared that they'd find something. I read about this topic a lot in the Media, and even though the message was always to get it out of the way so if there was anything to be concerned about, they could treat it quickly, I still chose to be stubborn.

I had a bunch of friends who had worrying experiences as well as friends who were completely fine. I guess I just expected the worse.
I finally booked it.. the day had come. I was in there for all of 5 minutes for the Nurse to take the swab and check my cervix out. I won't lie, I was slightly uncomfortable but the moment you just breathe and relax, you don't feel a thing! The nurse was so lovely, she kept me talking so it took my mind off it.
I was lucky enough to have a normal result. All that worrying for nothing! I will have my next one at the age of 28. Smear tests are done from the age of 25-64.
You might be thinking, OK Alisha.. too much info now! But it is so important to cause awareness of this subject.

I had a few lady friends of mine write a little something on their experiences just to show you how different everyone's experience can be and how important it is to attend the appointment.

"My first smear test was in October 2013 after I had put it off for months - my results came back stating that there were abnormal cells in my cervix.
November 2013 - I had 2 biopsies taken and I recieved my results in Jan 2014.
It came back that I had CIN2 precancerous cells. As I was getting married in the April, they booked me for a LLETZ treatment at the end of January - not a particularly pleasant experience. I had a follow up smear in August 2014 and was given the all clear completely. It is now July 2015 and I am pregnant with my first child. At 16 weeks I was monitored under the hospital for checks on my cervix to make sure that it didn't open early as this can potentially be a problem having the LLETZ treatment. I was given the all clear and so far have had a dream of a pregnancy, I get to meet my little one in August as sometimes i do think would it have affected the baby or would i be in a worse state now if i had ignored it. For the sake of a 2 second swab, its totally worth getting checked out." - Melissa

"I always dreaded the day I had to go for my first smear, I was so nervous about it. However when I got there the nurse could see How nervous I was and explained the procedure to me and kept me relaxed throughout. She chatted the whole way through and kept me distracted and it was over in seconds.. I barely even noticed what was happening! Yes the thought of it is horrible, but it could detect a problem and ultimately save your life." - Roxanne

"I had my first smear test during a routine appointment with my family planning nurse and the procedure took a grand total of 5 minutes if that! When my results came back, it had been discovered that there was a small abnormality on my cervix caused by the HPV Infection (the one they now vaccinate girls for at school). Due to the HPV infection, I was referred to my local hospital for a procedure called a colposcopy, basically a closer look at my cervix! I had a small biopsy taken, the results came back all clear and I didn't have to have a smear for another 3 years!
Don't let your fear of what your doctor is going to think of 'down there' put you off booking an appointment! It is something that they have to do everyday, they are not there to judge, they are just there to take a swab and that's it! It's always better to have your mind at rest than to never know " - Laura

GO GET YOUR LADY AREA CHECKED OUT!!

U S of A - WE ARE FINALLY HERE!!

"Oh hey y'all!" Ha! OK.. No-one actually speaks like that here, I should stop with my bad accents! How are you all?
I've been out here for 2 weeks now and as bad as it sounds.. I DO NOT MISS HOME.
If you follow me on Instagram, you'd have probably already seen some of the things my Husband and I have been up to.
When people go travelling and say you haven't LIVED unless you've lived in another country, they are so right.
I live right by the Harbour, in the Downtown area. The view from my balcony is half City and half Water. In my 25 years, I have never felt so at peace. The view is just spectacular, especially at night.
I am baffled and quite annoyed at myself actually that had this opportunity not been offered to us, I would never had experienced what I'm experiencing now.
I will learn so much from my time out here, that much I know for sure.
Anyone that REALLY knows me, knows that I am a very routine girl. I liked living in a small town, where everyone knew each other. I liked that my family lived so close by. Never did I think I'd adapt to this life.. THE CITY LIFE!

I guess this is just a little post to get you all thinking about doing something different, even if its out of your comfort zone. Believe me, I was having actual panic attacks weeks before I came here, I cried most days that I'd be far away from home. Now that I'm actually here all I feel is happiness.

We should all seize the day, unfortunately, we all say things like this then never put it into action. At a push, I've done it.. so can YOU.
Today my Husband told me that someone he knew passed away from a heart attack, completely healthy, just married, out of the blue. I feel so sad even though I didn't know him. You just never know what life has planned for you. LIVE YOUR LIFE.

Philosophy of Life - MUST READ!

Hey beauts. I was sitting in a room at the School I work at today and spotted this.. Reading this just put life into perspective.

I just wanted to share it with you, it's lengthy but worth a read.

"A meteorology professor stood before his Meteorology 101 class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly he picked up a very large and empty glass mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a jar of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open spaces between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar and of course the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous yes.

The professor then produced two cans of beer from under the table and then proceeded to pour the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the grains of sand. The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things -- your family, your partner, your health, your children, your friends, your favorite passions -- things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

"The pebbles are the other things that matter, like your job, your house, your car. The sand is everything else -- the small stuff.

"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out dancing. Play another 18.

"There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first -- the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the beer represented. The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of beers."

Glamglow - Mud to Foam Cleanser - REVIEW

I was SO excited to hit Sephora when visiting America. I went to one in Chicago and another in Seattle. ( It was my first time in the States after-all ;-) )

I visited Sephora with the intention of buying the Glamglow Supermud treatment, the price was roughly the same as it was at home. I then saw this and thought
" Ooooooooooo...something new!" and purchased it straight away.

I purchased the "THIRSTYCLEANSE" Cleanser as my skin is quite dry. Can I just mention this as one of my first points before I review this product thoroughly..

This Product is..
Paraben - Free (Preservatives)
Sulfates - Free (Ingredient used in Industrial Cleaners)
Phthalates - Free (Chemical used in Plastic)

Thirstycleanse contains "Rare Brazilian Yellow Clay" which is known to add natural color to a product as well as pulling the impurities out of the skin without taking away the moisture.
Pure Green Coconut Water - great for hydration.
Olive Milk - Gives skin a smooth texture.
Plumeria Blossom Extract - rich in Omega oils

Packaging
Typical of Glamglow, the packaging is fantastically presented. Bright & Bold. However, I really wish they would use less packaging and add more product. This goes for their masks too.
Thankfully, the cleanser contains 150g of product which is not too bad for the price you pay.
As you can see above, the bottle has a pump!! YAY - super hygienic!

Price
I paid $39 which works out at about £25-26.
I think this product is quite reasonably priced. I use one pump every-time I use this product. Compared to their masks, this product lasts longer and costs less.

Product
The product is very light on the skin until it is rubbed in, it then eventually becomes quite rough as it buffs away at the skin gently.
This product smells AMAZING! The coconut scent really comes through which is lovely, I love anything "coco-nutty"
I rub this in for a few a minutes until I know I can't rub it in any more.
I then wet my hands a little and use my wet fingers to massage the product into my skin a little more before completely washing it off.

I have used this product for the last 4 weeks. I would say I use this around 4 times a week. I usually use it when I have a full face of make up. It really takes away the impurities without stripping my skin.
I would really advise purchasing this!

Raishma - Bespoke Bridal Collection 2015

Wedding Season is upon us.. how exciting!
I so miss planning for my wedding. So if you are currently planning.. Good luck!
If you need any advice, do email me.
unleeshd.alisha@gmail.com

Raishma is a boutique based in London offering bespoke ladies clothing. Raishma offers some fantastic pieces, I would say around half of the clothing is Asian style and the rest is quite Western. Raishma has an online shop which is currently offering 10% to customers if they sign up to the Raishma clothing Newsletter. Link to website, below.

The brand has been around since 1998, creating pieces of clothing that incorporate your design ideas, making the perfect designer dress. The clothing is of great quality. Raishma Islam has been trained under the very lady who designed Princess Diana's wedding dress, Elizabeth Emmanuel. How fabulous!

Raishma is one very few British Asian designers who actually designs and creates the dress in the UK rather than designing here and having outfits made abroad.
This is great as you can see your outfit being made bit by bit. I know that is one frustration I had when having my Bridal dress made, it was being made in Mumbai so I had no idea if my design ideas would go together. It was just a matter of waiting and hoping.

Raishma provides her clients with the best, personal one to one service. She is only booking 50 brides this year to make sure all brides get her personal attention and she is able to create the perfect bespoke dresses.

The 2015 collection ranges from Traditional Asian bride to Contemporary Western style.

Raishma was recently at the Asian Bride Show, just look at how stunning this catwalk looks. The Vintage Rose dress was inspired by the gardens at Kensington Palace which I think is amazing. Raishma visited the palace and was inspired by her surroundings.

Raishma's brand is known to various celebrities such as Laila Rouazz, Priya Kalidas, Mel B, Shobna Gulati and even the lovely Meera Syal.

From gawping through this website, I can safely say that I am in LOVE with the ready wear on this website. The Kaftans especially, I can't get over just how beautiful they are. They are perfect if you're off to somewhere Hot and exotic. ( I kinda want to book a holiday now just so I can purchase one hehe )

Happy wedding season, people!!
I hope you enjoy looking at these pieces as much as I have.

Blogger/Vlogger of the Month - is None other than..

KAUSHAL BEAUTY!!!

I think this month is perfect to name Kaushal my "Blogger/Vlogger of the Month"
On a personal level, I have watched Kaushal grow from strength to strength, and I am so beyond proud of her.
Many of you might not know, but she was the one who gave me the courage to Blog too, she helped set up my blog back in 2011 and I thank her so much for that as it is still going four years later.

I know a lot of the bloggers who supported Kaushal from Day 1 are following her fantastic journey through social media now & are just as proud as I am.
It was quite emotional listening to Kaushal on the radio this week. If you didn't catch her, she was on Noreen's show ( BBC ASIAN NETWORK.. link below) It was such a funny yet emotional interview. What made it so emotional was that she was being 100% herself. The crazy, funny and super positive Kaushal I know and love came out on the air for everyone to see just how down to earth she actually is.

Kaushal's YouTube videos are fantastic. I have learnt so much myself through her tutorials. She breaks every look down so even a beginner can follow and apply it which is great.
Link to Youtube below.

If you don't already, follow her! Carry on being a great inspiration, sister!

Jewels are a girls best friend..

Evening all.
Some of you may have seen this photo I uploaded onto my Instagram and Facebook page, this week.

I have been following this lovely lady on Instagram ' Jewels_by_Kay ' for a while. I'm in love with the pieces on her page.
The piece I'm rockin' here is called "Alicia".. (very fitting!) I love it, it completely made a simple outfit stand out. My other half said "That's a nice necklace, the gold part looks very medieval." I thought it was so adorable but I knew exactly what he meant.
Statement necklaces aren't something that I have been into... (In general!)
I've never really liked Accessories.
Recently, I've been buying a few bits from the sales and giving them a go and what a difference it has made to my outfits!! I know people say jewellery can change your whole outfit up etc but I was never interested. Now however, I've started wearing statement necklaces and I've kinda got a little obsession with them..ha! (It's always the way!)
The pieces on her Instagram are all available on her personal website.

I know for a fact I'll be ordering more statement necklaces. Everywhere I go, I'm on the lookout.
I'm yet to find something like this. I remember seeing this online years ago and till day, I always remember it. One of the best I've ever seen. Stunning!

Sparkle lots!

Laser Hair Removal - Q&A

Evening, my loves! If you follow me on any social networking site, you might have seen me upload this photo below..

Laser Hair Removal is becoming more and more popular, and so it should, it's amazing. However, there are people out there ripping off their clients; Using machines that are damaging the skin more than anything else.
I want you to feel as comfortable as I do about Laser.
My laser consultant, Tracey will be answering your questions and concerns about laser hair removal.
I will gather together as many questions as I can this week ( till next Sunday) add them to the ones I have already and pass them onto her to answer.

The answers will be on this blog in the next couple of weeks. If you would like to know anything about Laser Hair removal, either leave your questions/concerns below or email me at
unleeshd.alisha@gmail.com

I asked 101 questions before I had this done, I love the confidence that I have got from having laser done. If you want a professional opinion. Just ask away :)
