Recipe: Healthy Chickpea Curry

Hello, lovely readers!
If you follow me on Twitter, you may have noticed the amount of tweets about the gym and healthy eating..
After a long 4 month break from the gym and being super active, I've decided to go back. The cold weather and Festive season really put me off going to the gym but the best thing about the break is I've maintained my weight so I'm happy.
I just want to be more active again, and I do love going for a good workout!

Chickpeas:
  • Good Source of  Protein, Fibre & Zinc.
  • They are part of your "5 a day"
  • Help to lower cholesterol
  • Low in Fat.

The other day I really fancied a Chickpea curry. It's really healthy so I thought I'd put the recipe up here for you guys to try..

Ingredients (Serves 2-3 people)
3 tbsp Olive Oil
1 can of chickpeas
Passata sauce
2 green chillis (Chopped)
2 cloves of Garlic
Half teaspoon worth of Ginger
1 tsp Salt
2 tsp Turmeric (Haldi)
1 tsp Garam Masala
Bunch of Coriander
Water

1. Add oil to a pan, when warm add your sliced onion, garlic, ginger and green chilli.

2. When the onions have a golden colour, add the salt and passata sauce. After a couple minutes, add your Turmeric and cook for further 3-4 minutes.

3. Drain your chickpeas and add them to the sauce, give it a good stir.

 4. Now, add half a pint of water and stir. This will help to soften the chickpeas

5. Let the chickpea curry simmer for 10/15 minutes and add your garam masala and coriander.

Let it simmer on a low heat for a further 5 minutes and it's ready to serve. You can serve this with Naan/ Pitta/ Chapatti's..

I had mine with Salad and low fat Greek Yoghurt.

Flawless complexion.. FOTD

(I am wearing my robe lol.. taking photos as I get ready.. hair and clothing after make-up)
Recently, I purchased a new Moisturiser, Eye cream, Concealer and Foundation. I believe I've found the perfect combo for my skin type and tone.

Always remember, for your make-up to look good, the canvas must be good quality.
Therefore, your skin should be nice and healthy. Hydrated.

I use these two products..

I apply a pea size amount of the Elizabeth Arden Hydrant Cream, morning and night.
With a little Origins GinZeng eye cream just under the eye area.
These creams moisturise and hydrate your skin, making it look and feel healthy.

Next.. The Foundation.
Estee Lauder - Double Wear

The 130 brush isn't remotely for foundation and concealers but I love using it for both. It buffs the foundation in so well,  as well as your concealer.

Then the concealer (s).. Collection 2000, MAC Moisturecover (NC42) (amazing) and Touche Eclat (3.5)

Just dot the concealers in the area you want to apply it, I used the 130 brush to buff the concealer in too.

My skin always looks flawless after these steps.
Here.. I've added neutral colours on the eye lid and a shade of red from the Sleek (Sunset) palette. Little Mascara, Elizabeth Arden's Honey Glaze Lipgloss (in the giveaway) and Hoola by Benefit to contour :)

This is todays look, I better go get dressed and sort my hair out too!

Dabur Vatika Enriched Coconut Hair Oil

I know I've recently done four reviews on two different hair oils.. I'm trying to find an oil perfect for my hair care.
I'm a little iffy when it comes to oils full of chemicals. I love natural and organic hair products.

The two previous oils have been lovely. I prefer Profectiv over the Kitoko oil though. Money wise, Profectiv is a little more friendly.
Being an Indian girl, I've grown up going to family members houses and seeing different natural hair oils stored in their bathrooms.
I know for a fact hair oils are BIG in India.

I am so proud that I've grown my hair to the length it's at now, as it's never been long in my life.
I always had short hair as a kid and I love that I get asked if I wear extensions.
The fact that I have grown my own hair and kept it healthy is an achievement to me.
Might sound silly, but long hair is really tough to maintain and takes work.

This is the reason why I want to try different hair oils to see which one works better for me. I have older members of my family who still have thick, shiny, healthy hair due to using natural hair oils so often.

Today, I bought..

Vatika Coconut Oil.

When I went on holiday to the Punjab, I saw the advert for this on tele out there a fair few times. The range of products from this company are very popular out there as well as overseas.
I got this from an Asian store in my hometown. (Google it if you can't get to a store that stocks this.)

For anyone who knows me.. knows that I ADORE the smell of coconut.
I opened this up and OH MY GOSH.. ha! I can't help but smell my hair and hands as the smell just lingers.
If you don't like strong scents especially Coconut, I wouldn't recommend this!
It's a solid wax type oil on the inside so I would recommend poppin' it on the radiator or in hot water for a couple minutes to melt a little.

The part that sold this oil to me..
Key Ingredients..
Henna, Amla, Harar, Bahera, Neem, Brahmi, Kapur Kachari, Lemon Oil and of course Coconut Oil.
(Might not mean much but this is what these natural ingredients do..)
These natural ingredients, Condition, Nourish, Restore, Delay Greying, Delay Hair Fall, Antispetic, Fight Dandruff, Promote Hair Growth & Protect from UV rays.

A lot of these ingredients are used in India individually for these reasons but this ONE oil contains all ingredients to basically keep your hair healthy.
I'm going to trial it out and put it on my hair three times a week.
I've got it in my hair at the minute and I'm keeping it in overnight.
The smell has won me over already but we'll soon find out if this is as good as the reviews I've read online.
I only paid £2.29 for a 150ml bottle so, so far so good.
I'll do another post in two weeks time to tell you my verdict :)

Favourite Movie & Song of the Month..

I chose Picture Perfect and DJ Pauly D/ Jay Sean's - Back to Love, last month.

My Favourite movie of the month has to be..

HITCH!

I did mention in the last post that the films I recommend will be old & new.
Hitch was introduced to me about two years ago, every time it's on.. I have to watch it!
Will Smith movies are fab and Eva Mendes on top of that... so hot! The allergy scene always makes me chuckle!

My Favourite song of the month..

Justin Timberlake FT Jay -Z - Suit & Tie

He's back!!! I was obsessed with N*sync all those years ago.. then Justin Timberlake's solo career took off and I've loved him ever since.

Get watching and listening if you haven't yet :)

Profectiv hair oil.. Last Review

About a month ago, I wrote a post on a new hair oil. (New to me, not new in general) The product itself is very popular in Afro Caribbean stores.
This cost me just under £4 and after a month of use I've only used 1/10th of the bottle.

If you haven't read the introduction to this product, click the link for my first review.

I applied a little to the ends everyday before work on DRY hair. But I did find it looked greasy which shouldn't really be the case as its supposed to just absorb. I was using the tiniest amount too!
The product is supposed to be used right before you style.

Instead of applying it everyday, every Friday after work, I get home and massage about 2 tablespoons worth of oil into my hair and leave it in for at least 4 hours. Sometimes, I even leave it till the next day.
I absolutely hate having greasy hair lol it is one of my pet hates.
It's been tough but I tend to ignore how greasy my hair is and think about what the oil has actually done for my hair.

I asked my friend today if my hair looked any different ( she hasn't seen me for a month or so )
She said it looked much longer, as well as looking shiny and healthier.

I haven't really noticed if my hair has grown lots or not as its always up at home and work.

The oil has done wonders for my hair. I will carry on using it but I think once a week is enough for me, as I massage it in which isn't written in the "Directions"
I've chosen to do that myself and it works for me.

Fashion Police: Dresses galore.. Damn, I wish I was rich!

Ha.. don't we all? I apologise for the lack of blogging. I've been busy doing my NVQ work which is nearly finished, YAY!

I've been chilling all day, pretty much. Trying to recharge my batteries. I'm always on the net looking at Celebrity fashion and make-up looks. I came across these dresses and entered my little "If I was a celebrity" bubble.. I'd SO wear that if I had a red carpet event to go to..

These dresses caught my eye recently, genuinely in love!

Taylor Swift at NRJ awards.
This dress is sparkly and tight fitting without looking trashy. Taylor's hair & make-up were so on point too. I'm not a fan of this girl but I saw this look and thought wow!

Rihanna at the Grammy's 2013
The design of this dress is simple but so sexy and sultry. Rihanna looks so much better covered up than she does in super short dresses and shorts. She looked so natural and chilled here. Love this dress and love her hair!

Lastly..

Beyonce with hubby himself.. unsure of event.

I saw this on an online article, this morning. This dress is so classy and sparkly and just so soo beautiful!

So.. If I was rich and a celebrity, I'd go for dresses just like these!
So gorgeous & Glamorous!
